Wyoming Blinds & Shutters FAQ

Do you have a showroom?

We bring the showroom to you! When starting WYBlinds we decided to not have a traditional showroom. This decision was made for two reasons. 1) Color and fabric selections should always be done in the space that it is being installed. Lighting, flooring colors, wall colors, and furniture tones all change the way the window coverings will appear in your space. 2) By eliminating a showroom, we have eliminated a large overhead expense. This means we are able to provide lower prices to our customers – which is our ultimate goal: quality products at an affordable price.

What brands do you carry?

We carry Lafayette Interior Fashions, Graber, Insolroll, Pentagon Security Shutters, and the majority of the manufactures we work with have partnered with Somfy for smart home and motorization options.

Do you repair existing window coverings?

Yes, we do repairs. It is always our goal for you to keep your existing window coverings if possible. Some window coverings cannot be repaired and would need replaced under warranty or with the purchase of new window coverings. We will work hard to repair any window covering possible and will walk you through your options if they cannot be repaired. Contact us for all your window covering repair needs.

Is it true that strings on window coverings have been banned?

The revised safety standard that went into effect June of 2024, ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022, eliminates the use of free hanging operating cords, free hanging tilt cords and multiple cords into a cord connector on all made-to-order custom window covering products.  The safety standard continues to require all stock products sold in stores and online to be cordless or have inaccessible cords. Chains with tension brackets continue to be utilized for roller shades and transitional shades.

Are all window coverings at WYBlinds custom made?

All window coverings at WYBlinds are custom made. We do not have any in-stock product, as every window is different, requiring accurate measurements to ensure a precise installation.

How long do custom window coverings take to be manufactured?

The average turnaround time from when the order is placed to the date of installation is four weeks. Our design consultant will advise if there are longer turnaround times for the particular product you are choosing. For example, if you are having a shutter custom painted in a Sherwin-Williams paint color, then the turnaround time will be extended to account for the color swatches needing to be approved by you prior to production.

When in the process should I contact WYBlinds when building a new home?
Motorization

We are here to help throughout the building process. When considering a hardwired motorization option for your home, you should contact us early in building process enabling us to work with your contractor/electrician to ensure proper placement of electrical components and framing prior to the installation of drywall.

Without hardwired motorization

We know the importance of budgeting every component of a new construction home. We are able to provide a generalized bid at any point of your building process. Once windows, drywall, and trim are installed, we are able to get accurate measurements for your final bid. We recommend not waiting until move-in day to make your final selections, as window coverings take approximately four weeks to be manufactured. However, if you find yourself in that scenario, we are happy to provide complimentary temporary paper shades for you in the interim.

Do you do commercial buildings as well as residentials?

Yes. We carry commercial grade products as well as a variety of other options that are well suited for commercial spaces and offices. Our expert design consultant will provide information and advise on the window coverings that would be best for the overall budget and functionality of the space.
